Description

One of my neighbors was worried about getting stopped by the police, their tags had expired and they were working on getting it fixed but couldn’t afford a set-back like getting ticketed for them.

I told him he should imagine he’s wrapped in a giant green bubble, like a green screen. That it would let him blend into the background so nobody can see him.

Maybe a month later I saw him again and he couldn’t wait to tell me he’d been doing that, imagining himself inside a green bubble and invisible, and hadn’t gotten stopped even though he’d crossed paths with several police.

That made us both smile and laugh about it all. I was so happy for my neighbor, he’s a really neat man and deserves only good things in life.

There have been times I’ve mentally wrapped myself up in a giant green bubble to hide whatever imperfection was going on for me at the time. To pretend I was invisible allowed me to move through life with more freedom and find some joy when it seemed impossible.

The mind is so powerful, but our thoughts can be so fragile. It doesn’t take much to pop the bubbles we construct in our mind.
