And not just un-subbed from carnivore communities, but any that revolve around nutrition, diet, fasting, fitness, and the gym.

While going carnivore has completely changed my life for the better, I found in the past year it was feeling more like an identity than a way of eating. If I wasn’t consuming information from carnivore communities, I was contributing to them.

I’ve never been good at identity politics, and as the mainstream popularity of carnivore has grown so too has the polarity and bad actors.

When I first set out on the road in March 2020, I similarly went through and purged my electronics of all negative streams of information. No mainstream news (which is almost exclusively fear-mongering), no negative sub-Reddits, removed Google’s news panel, and otherwise cut myself off completely from anything going on that would only add stress to my life.

Ignorance really is bliss.

Programming isn’t just tv

If you want to be a different person you have to change your environment too.

Who you talk to, what you see and hear, where you go.

Growing up in the AA community it was often said that if you keep hanging out with your old drinking buddies you’re eventually going to drink again; it’s just a matter of time.

Addiction isn’t limited to substances we put in our bodies.

Everything around you has the potential to program your life. For good or bad.

Am I still a carnivore?

Yes, I’m still eating a raw carnivore diet.

I’m just choosing to invest my time and attention in other areas and stepping away from the group-think that the carnivore diet community has. Even when I was a vegan (oof) I didn’t enjoy being a member of vegan groups for the same reason.

I’ll probably still post my raw carnivore YouTube videos, because it’s kinda fun to chatter on as I do in them and so far the people I interact with in the comments are a positive addition. But also do more on my ambulance conversion for a change in the near future.

What about fitness and the gym?

I haven’t been inside the gym to workout for a whole week! ?

I did pop into Planet Fitness to use their hydromassage bed. And a quick visit to LAFitness to sit in the sauna and cold shower.

I’m not giving up working out, but at least this week I just haven’t had it in me to break a sweat. I’m mentally tired of training while fighting against a deteriorating self-image.

At this point I just want to be healthy, pain-free, and happy.
