Despite the best efforts of my mother, my entire life I refused to make my bed; until now.
So what changed? Did I just magically mature into a hyper-organized neat freak at 38?
Well if you saw the rest of my house you might disagree, although I am fairly well organized it’s not always super-neat.
Instead, I finally figured out that unmaking my bed at night is an important part of a healthy sleep ritual. I don’t just casually fall into bed whenever, I intentionally plan for bed and go through a series of actions to accomplish it.
And with this change in routine I’ve found sleep comes more easily too.
It isn’t even about making the bed, it’s about having a made bed to undo at night.
And a good reminder the sometimes we do things not for their immediate effect, but for the cascade they trigger. ❤️
